LAHORE: Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Fawad Hassan Fawad, didn’t not appear on Friday before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore to record his statement in a case pertaining to the Ashiana Housing Scheme scam.
The Bureau has summoned him again on June 1 over his failure to turn up today to answer its queries in connection with a probe into the scam.
Fawad was served subpoena for the seventh time to appear before a probe team of the NAB, but he didn’t appear.
The NAB has launched an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities in the award of contract of Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme to a bidder in violation of the relevant laws.
“Inquiry has revealed that you are in possession of information and evidence regarding award and cancellation of contract in respect Ashiana-e-Iqbal Project launched by PLDC”, said a notice issued to Fawad earlier by the Bureau.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also been questioned by the NAB in the case. He has been accused of ordering cancellation of contract of Aashiana-e-Iqbal to a successful bidder, leading to award of the contract to other builder, which resulted into a loss of Rs 193 million approximately,” the notice reads.
He also directed PLDC to assign the project of Aashiana-e-Iqbal to LDA resulting into award of contracts to M/s Lahore Casa Developers (JV), thus causing loss of Rs 715 million approximately and ultimately failure of the project, according to the notice.
It says the chief minister had also directed PLDC to award consultancy services of Aashiana-e-Iqbal project for Rs 192 million approximately, but its actual cost was Rs 35 million.
