ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the federal cabinet approved established of ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Authority’, taking a step forward to fulfil the promise for construction of low-cost houses, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
Fawad Chaudhry, while addressing a media briefing after the federal cabinet meeting, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the housing project by laying its foundation stone in Islamabad on April 17.
He detailed that 135,000 houses will be constructed this year during the first phase of the PM’s housing project, whereas, 110,000 homes will be built in Balochistan.

“25,000 apartments will be built in Islamabad for federal government employees, as well as the construction of a township for fishermen in Gwadar.”
The government has decided to construct a railway station named after Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib, he added. Moreover, a new board has been formed for Evacuee Trust Property Board while Younus Dagha was given charge of State Life Insurance chairmanship.
It was decided that Bait-ul-Maal will work for treatment of liver-related diseases, Chaudhry said.

The information minister said that issues relating to gas billing were present in Lahore and Islamabad. He added that many Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) legislator and former minister were found involved in gas theft. Hina Rabbani Khar has taken stay order in a gas theft case for two years, Chaudhry said.
“500 people are facing cases in the electricity department, whereas, the present government reduced Rs40 billion losses caused by power theft.”
For the revival of state enterprise, the government institutions will deliver all posts through Pakistan Post, the minister said.
“No discussion was made pertains to the declaration of assets during the cabinet meeting,”
Fawad Chaudhry said that the federal government was near to reach a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He added that 35 decisions of the cabinet were not yet implemented.
