Fawad Chaudhry ‘surprised’ as Shah says PTI proposed Aitzaz’s name for presidential elections

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday expressed astonishment over a claim made by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah that PTI proposed the name of Aitzaz Ahsan for presidential elections, ARY News reported.

Khursheed Shah had claimed that Fawad Chaudry met with him and former PM Raja Pervez Ashraf on August 17 and suggested that the PPP should field a non-controversial and a joint candidate that was fitting for the post of President of Pakistan and assured that PTI will support their candidate.

The PPP stalwart maintained that after brief negotiation, Fawad himself proposed the name of Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan.

“Surprised on Khursheed Shah’s statement,PTI Candidate Arif Alvi is winning hands down so Aitzaz  should be requested to withdraw from presidential race,” Fawad Chaudhry wrote in a tweet on his personal Twitter account.

He, however, added that it wont make any difference if Aitzaz doesn’t withdraw as in any case Arif Alvi is poised to “win with biggest majority of recent political history”.

It is pertinent to note here that PTI’s Arif Alvi, PPP’s Aitzaz Ahsan and a multi-party opposition alliance’s Fazlur Rehman will be participating in presidential elections.
