ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court here on Monday directed police to arrest Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi, and other party leaders absconding in a case related to the Faizabad sit-in.
The ATC judge gave this order after their failure to turn up before the court despite its repeated summons.
The court directed the police to submit a final charge-sheet against the accused persons on next hearing on April 4.
Earlier, the Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction over a report of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in a similar case, terming it incomplete.
A division
bench, comprising Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Mushir Alam, was hearing a suo motu case pertaining to the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange held last year, which caused difficulties to residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The bench said the report didn’t disclose the source of Rizvi’s income. To a query about his profession, a federal law officer replied he was a religious lecturer.
The judges directed the state counsel to submit another report on next hearing, answering the specific questions put to him by the court.
The hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
