More suspected facilitators of Chinese consulate attack arrested: AIG

KARACHI: Karachi police on Saturday claimed to have arrested more suspected facilitators of a terror attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi.

Speaking to media, Karachi police chief  Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh said more facilitators of the gun-and-grenade attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi have been arrested.

He said the police have traced the hotel where the attackers had stayed, adding that a number of arrests have been made from the hotel.

The AIG Karachi said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has been carrying out a probe into the attack with assistance from the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, intelligence agencies, and police.

At least two policemen were killed when unidentified gunmen tried to storm the Chinese consulate in Karachi on Nov 23. Three assailants wearing suicide jackets tried to enter the consulate but were intercepted by security guards at a checkpoint, according to police.

An exchange of fire resulted in the killing of all the assailants, while two policemen also embraced martyrdom in the gun battle.
