Ehsanullah Ehsan will not be pardoned, says Asif Ghafoor

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Monday said former Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan has blood of several men on his hands, therefore, he will not be pardoned, ARY News reported.

In an informal talk with journalists after media briefing, Asif Ghafoor said since Ehsan and his former peers had blood of many people on their hands, hence, action would be taken against them according to law of the state.

He said the court verdict against the ex-TTP spokesman will be enforced.

The DG ISPR also said operation in Shawal valley was remaining and soon a decision would be made in this regard. He said no time frame could be provided for conclusion of Operation Khyber IV.

Asif Ghafoor on April 17 the following year in a press conference had said that Ehsanullah Ehsan surrendered to the security forces.

He is currently in military custody.  The Pakistan Army has maintained that all terrorists, whether captured or surrendered, will be punished.

In April 2017, ISPR had announced that Ehsan had surrendered himself to Pakistan’s security agencies.

In a video confessional statement released by ISPR on April 26, 2017, Ehsanullah Ehsan claimed that TTP had been getting funding from Indian intelligence agency RAW for spreading terrorism in Pakistan.
