Code of Conduct: ECP forbids Imran Khan to address PTI election rally in Lodhran

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a notice to Imran Khan asked him to avoid addressing an election rally of the PTI in Lodhran.

The election body has declared that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s address to the election meeting of its candidate Ali Tareen will be a breach of the election code of conduct.

The Returning Officer (RO) of NA-154 (Lodhran) has issued notices to Imran Khan and the party candidate Ali Tareen.

The election commission in its letter said that the prime minister, ministers and members of the parliament could not visit a constituency during the election campaign.

The by-election in Lodhran is scheduled to be held on February 12. The national assembly seat was vacated after the Supreme Court declared the PTI central leader Jahangir Tareen as disqualified in a case.

PTI, after disqualification of Tareen awarded the party ticket to his son Ali Tareen to contest the election from Lodhran.

Imran Khan had to address the election rally in Lodhran today and a large number of party supporters and have already reached at the venue of the meeting.
