We can become developed nation of world: President Arif Alvi

LAHORE: President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday said we could become an important and developed nation of the world, ARY News reported.

President Dr Arif Alvi said Pakistan sacrificed 70,000 lives in war on terror. He said the poison of terrorism destroyed nations.

“The world is playing with the poison of terrorism. We want peace even today, but if any action is taken it would meet a reaction,” he said while talking to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Lahore.

He said Pakistan had become a beautiful country.

President Alvi said role of those who created Pakistan was crucial for the country. He said he was proud that his family migrated from India to Pakistan.

“During partition of the sub-continent, many of my family members were left in India,” he said.

He said role of leaders of the Pakistan Movement was laudable.

On April 25, President Alvi had said that textile sector was the lynchpin of Pakistan’s economy.

Talking to the delegation of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) in Faisalabad, Dr Arif Alvi had said that textile sector was contributing 60 per cent in Pakistan’s total exports and 40 per cent in industrial employment.

According to a statement issued from his office, the president had appreciated the role being played by private sector, particularly the APTPMA in economic development of the country.
