GUJRANWALA:The body of a sixty-year-old man with torture marks was recovered from the agricultural fields near Gujranwala, ARY News reported.
The deceased Muhammad Yaseen was a peasant. His family members protested outside the district police office, after which the Regional Police Officer (RPO) ordered an investigation into the matter.
His son Waseem accused that influential landlords in the area had allegedly subjected his sister Arifa to sexual assault eight months ago, after which his father registered a case against them.
Waseem accused that Cantt Police had taken his father into custody four months ago and shifted him to an undisclosed location.
He alleged that the Police had denied his father was arrested, and now his tortured body has been recovered from the fields. He accused that the Police in collusion with the influential landlords had killed his father.
The RPO assured them that a full investigation into the incident would be carried out, after which the protesters dispersed.
