LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday said those behind assassination of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-S (JUI-S) Chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq would be brought to justice.
“Martyrdom of Maulana Sami ul Haq is not less than a big tragedy,” he said in a statement.
He said Maulana Sami-ul-Haq was a renowned religious scholar and a wise politician and he was deeply sad over the death of Maulana Sami ul Haq.
Buzdar said the Punjab government was standing with the bereaved family in this hour of distress and the tragedy was being investigated from every aspect.

“The accused will be arrested soon and they cannot escape punishment,” he said. The Punjab CM said religious and political services of Maulana Sami will be remembered for a long time.
Maulana Sami ul Haq was assassinated at his residence in Rawalpindi on Friday evening.
Speaking to ARY News, Hamid-ul-Haq, son of the deceased religious scholar, said his father was stabbed to death at his Rawalpindi residence. He said his father was unwell and taking rest at home when he came under the attack.
He said Maulana Sami-ul-Haq’s driver and gunman were away when he was stabbed and added that when one of his servants returned he saw his father lying in a pool of blood.
Maulana Sami-ul-Haq was shifted to the Safari Hospital in Rawalpindi for medico-legal formalities.
The attack took place within the jurisdiction of the Airport police station in Rawalpindi.
The funeral prayers of the JUI-S chief was offered at Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak on Saturday.
