LAHORE: A sessions court of Lahore reserved its verdict on Saturday on a petition seeking registration of a sedition case against Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the central leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
Additional Sessions Judge Roy Muhammad Kharal heard a plea filed by Abdullah Malik seeking a court order for registration of case under sedition charges against Khadim Hussain Rizvi.
Civil Lines police station Lahore submitted its record in the court. The court was informed that a case was already filed against Rizvi on October 31 under the charges of rioting and damaging public property.
The petitioner informed the court that the TLP leader Rizvi, after the Supreme Court’s decision in Aasia case, instigated general public with his provocating speeches against the state institutions. The roads were blocked in protests and protesters caused billions of rupees loss to properties. This act of Tehreek-e-Labbaik was equal to a seditious act, the petition said.
The police was requested for filing a case against Rizvi and others but to no avail, the petition said seeking the court order for filing of sedition case against Khadim Hussain Rizvi.
