Court orders police to ensure security to Ayesha Ahad

LAHORE: District and Sessions court here on Friday directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore to ensure provision of security to Ayesha Ahad, a lady who claims to be disowned wife of MNA Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.

These directions to the CCPO Lahore were passed during a hearing of an application filed by Ayesha making a harassment claim against Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Ayesha in her application asserted that she was being harassed by unidentified men at the behest of Rana Sanaullah as she complained of being chased by men in plain clothes whenever she went out.

She pleaded the court to implement earlier orders for provision of security to her.

Earlier, the court had directed Punjab police to provide security to Ayesha in August after she complained of receiving life threats.

She then apprised the judge that her residence was under surveillance by Rana Sanaullah’s men.

“I am being persecuted at his instructions for speaking up for rights,” Ayesha then said.

Defamation notice

In August this year, Ayesha had served a defamation notice to Rana for making derogatory remarks against her.

She then accused the law minister of making a false statement before the media on August 6, besides levelling scathing allegations against her.

The notice asked for Rs200 million as compensation amount for damages caused by the minister’s statement.
