Court grants remand of MQM's Qamar Mansoor

Rangers today produced Qamar Mansoor before a judicial magistrate and sought his remand from the court.

According to Rangers sources, the detained MQM leader was produced before the court of judicial magistrate for transit remand due to Eid holidays. The paramilitary force will produce Mansoor before an anti-terrorism court after Eid holidays and will seek his physical remand, sources further said.

The Rangers had arrested Qamar Mansoor along with another MQM leader, Kaiful Wara, during a raid on MQM headquarters Nine Zero. Kaiful Wara, however, released after questioning, while Mansoor was detained for facilitating Altaf Hussain’s alleged hate speeches against the security agencies.

The Rangers had also conducted raid at the house of MQM MNA Hyder Abbas Rizvi but he was not present there.

The paramilitary force in an early raid on MQM headquarters in March this year arrested scores of the party activists including Amir Khan, a senior leader of the party. A court later released Amir Khan on bail on June 30th.
