Countrywide campaign against extremism to yield positive results: Mamnoon

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said that the country facing formidable challenges pertaining to extremism and terrorism but the nation and state institutions will emerge victorious in fighting the war of survival.

He was addressing 17th convocation of National Security and War Course at the National Defence University in Islamabad. He expressed the confidence that operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad would turn the country into a citadel of peace in near future.

“Pakistan came into being to play a positive and constructive role for regional and global peace and stability besides a welfare state where citizens could live with dignity and honour,” the president said.

However, he conceded that there have been impediments in realization of these cherished objectives. “But the country has moved forward,” he opined.

He further said that the government and the state institutions are courageously implementing the National Action Plan and have taught a bitter lesson to those challenging the writ of state.

Referring to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said that it would give a new strategic dimension to the regional and global scenario.

Furthermore, he opined that a new strategic doctrine would emerge and hoped that institutions like National Defence University would be taking stock of the emerging challenges.
