The bill titled “The Sindh Criminal Prosecution Service (Constitution, Functions and Powers) (Amendment) Bill, 2015” amid opposition outcry and protest.
Under the bill, the provincial government can withdraw any case with a binding for prosecutor general to submit its report to the court. This has been mandatory to seek court’s approval for quashing a case.
Opoposition leader in the House Khwaja Izharul Hasan said the PPP government hastily passed the bill to hide its corruption and mismanagement.
He said the bill showed clear intent of the government that “it doesn’t want to grant powers to law enforcement agencies for fair action.”
PTI’s Khurram Sher Zaman said Sindh was anyone’s personal property. We completely reject the bill that aims at protecting the ulterior motives of the government, he added.
Talking to ARY News, PML-F legislature Nusrat Sehar Abbasi said her party was shocked to see the ‘black law’ introduced by the PPP government. She said treasury benches must go through assembly rules before moving any bill to the House.
Ms Abbasi said it was understood that PPP passed this bill to protect the corrupt people like Dr. Asim and Ayyan Ali.
Commenting on the bill, MQM leader Farogh Naseem said this bill is tantamount to National Reconciliation Order. He said passage of such a bill was like ridiculing democracy.
