ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday said that all stakeholders have arrived at consensus on the construction of two new dams, ARY News reported.
Addressing a senior counsel, Farooq H Naek, during the hearing of a case, the chief justice said he would soon give good news about dams. He added he would soon contact his friends, including Mr. Naek, to make contributions to this charity work.
Justice Nisar remarked, “Perhaps, we are oblivious to how big the issue of water scarcity is?”
Advocate Naek said the name of the chief justice would be written in golden words in history.
Headed by the CJP, a bench of the apex court had taken up a case with regard to a loan-write off scheme.
He said the amount recovered from loan defaulters will be used for construction of dams.
Justice Nisar said some of the defaulters have expressed willingness to pay seventy five percent of the written-off loan amount whereas those who do not return the amount will be sent to the banking courts.
At the previous hearing, he warned defaulters to either pay 75% of the principal amount or face investigation by banking courts.
Justice Nisar said, “Every penny will be recovered.”
