Commission to probe Panama Papers will be formed soon: PM

Panama leaks had not leveled any allegations on me. Politicians who are not mature enough are constantly casting barbs on me, said Mr. Sharif while speaking to media outside his London residence.

On April 5, the prime minister had announced the formation of a commission to investigate allegations made in the Panama Papers that linked his family to a series of offshore companies.

The premier insisted that ‘some people’ must not do politics that may throw Pakistan off track in development.

“Mr. Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan had informed media about people who have been contacted for the commission.”

PM recalled that ‘dharna’ was also staged and the demands [coming through protesters] were referred to the judicial commission, but the detractors never accepted that verdict.

“Similarly, our National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s re-election was not even accepted. Things does work this way,” he underlined.

Mr. Sharif regretted that the politics of 90s is still being worked out by some people.

The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposes how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
