COAS Gen Bajwa calls on PM Khan ahead of NSC meeting

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan ahead of the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, ARY News reported on Thursday.

During the meeting, matters related to the country and region’s security situation came under discussion.

Currently the NSC meeting is underway with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.

The high-level meeting is being attended by General Bajwa, services chiefs, heads of intelligence agencies and security officials.

Finance Minister Asad Umar, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi and others are also in attendance.

The Pulwama attack, India’s histrionics and situation developing from it are being discussed in the meeting, sources said.

The committee will also deliberate over Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case which is currently being heard in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), sources added. “Foreign Office officials will brief the participants regarding the case,” sources relayed.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had declared that there would be no comprise on the sovereignty of the country.

Chairing a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party at the Parliament House, the prime minister had said, “The message [Pakistan] had to give to India has already been given. We have given India a clear message on Pulwama attack.”
