CM Sindh to present three months budget on May 10

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday announced that he would present the budget for the next financial year 2018-19 on May 10.

The chief minister was speaking to media at Kakri Ground in Lyari where he attended the third death anniversary of Akbar Nagori, brother of MPA Javed Nagori.

The budget would be only for three months till September 30. He clarified that the newly elected government would have to authenticate the budget from the provincial assembly for another nine months.

Replying to a question, the chief minister said the city was facing the law and order situation and there was a wave of fear and insecurity everywhere.

He said that a targeted operation was launched in during the tenure of former chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah which turned to be most successful operation ever in the city.

He added that the government, with the hard work and sacrifices of law enforcement agencies, liberated the people of the city from the sway of target killers, extortionists and terrorists.

He said that Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has gone berserk after witnessing the huge public gathering of Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto in their stronghold of Liaquatabad.

“Now, the MQM leaders just for their face saving have announced public meetings there,” he said.

He said that they have no objection on holding political meetings or political work by any party, but MQM understands very well that their people are now not with them.

To a question, the chief minister said that an exercise has been launched to trace out ghost employees from local bodies and it is known who had hired them and with which party they belonged.

CM Sindh said that the provincial government was working to solve water shortage problem in Lyari,

“We have installed two RO plants in Lyari and these plants had some issues which have been resolved and now the water shortage issue has been controlled to some extent,” he said.

He said that Lyari was, is and will be the stronghold of PPP.
