KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Thursday decided to arrange extra funds to complete forty-one important schemes by December 31, and priortise constructions, completion and face uplift projects in the next budget.
The chief minister presided over a meeting on next budget to evolve strategy for completion of most important schemes, attended by Minister Works and Services Imdad Pitafi, Chairman Planning and Development M. Waseem, senior bureaucrats and concerned officers.
Chairman Planning and Development M. Waseem informed CM Sindh that 218 road infrastructure development schemes are in progress in Sukkur, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas. CM Sindh directed him to identify important schemes for additional funds to ensure completion by year end.
The schemes identified include widening and reconstruction of Karachi-Thatta-Jhimpir-Hyderabad at cost Rs1.5 billion, 69.58 km Hala-Shahdadpur-Sanghar road worth Rs100 million, Saeedabad to Shaheed Benazirabad road including bridge over Rohri Canal worth Rs100 million, and reconstruction of 41.25 km road from Mirpurkhas-Tando Adam worth Rs1 billion.
The meeting also approved reconditioning of road from Yousif Dahri Mori regulator to Bandhi via Manhoro worth Rs40 million, reconstruction of road from Ghora Bari to Gharo worth Rs40 million, improvement of
road from Mataro Kario Ganhwar to Kharwah Road worth Rs1100 million, Mehar to Dokri road worth Rs30 million, Kambar to Ghaibedero road worth Rs100 million, and reconstruction of road from Ghora Bari to Gharo.Furthermore, the committee approved widening of road from Larkana to Miro Khan, Jati to Khurwah, Tando Allahyar to Tando Adam, Deh 170 to Tando Jan Mohammad district Mirpurkhas, Sakrand to Sarhari and from Jhudo Nabisar, and from Matiari to Allahdino Sand in Mirpurkhas
The reconstruction of roads from Moro Manahoon Mithani to Naushehroferoze, Samaro to Jhudo, Rukk to Lakhi, Palijani Station to Tando Jam via Shahpur, and various others.
There schemes includes some bridges and bypasses such as flyovers at railway crossing from Nooriabad-Jhimpir, Birani railway crossing at Tando Adam, Jatia railway crossing in Shahdadpur, overhead bridge at railway crossing in Tando Adam, and over railway line between city and industrial area of Kotri.
The other bridges include the RCC bridge from Shaheed Benazirabad to Qazi Ahmed on Rohri Canal and a bridge between Mithi to Chalhar. CM Sindh also directed P&D chairman to prepare scheme for uplift of important government buildings and district headquarters.
