PESHAWAR: Taking notice of Afzal Kohistani’s murder, Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP) Chief Minister Mehmood Khan on Thursday ordered Inspector General of Police (IGP) Peshawar to immediately arrest the culprits.
Afzal had revealed that the five women appearing in a controversial Kohistan video were murdered after a jirga decision, in 2012, in Kohistan’s Palas valley.
Hours before his killing, Kohistani in his video message said, he was subjected to torture by the policemen, when he asked for protection.
Meanwhile, a case of Kohistani’s killing was registered at the Cant police station under sections of murder and attempt to murder.
The police have arrested a nominated accused identified as Faizur Rehman, who is said to be nephew of Afzal Kohistani.

Kohistani was shot dead near Gami Addah area of Abbottabad, by unidentified armed persons, yesterday., while two pedestrians also sustained injuries in the attack.
The two men appearing in the video, brothers to Afzal, along with another, his cousin, were murdered on January 3, 2013 after he had requested the Supreme Court to reopen the case.
It was learnt that Afzal had been receiving death threats for a long time, however, despite his applications to DIG Hazara division and IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he wasn’t provided security.
