LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday said that despite all the criticism, judiciary stands as a guardian of democracy and constitution, ARY News reported.
Addressing a book launch ceremony organised by Lahore High Court Bar Association, the chief justice maintained that judiciary had to act against mafias due to the leadership vacuum in the country otherwise he, as a juror, detests judicial activism.
“When I took over (as CJP), even the infants’ formula milk was impure but now with our efforts, we were able to achieve a water crisis,” said the CJP.
The top judge also took credit for the timely conduct of general elections and said that a senior journalist too praised his efforts in this regard.
He was of the view that the construction of dams was being delayed due to a conspiracy but judiciary’s efforts led to the timely resolution of water crisis.
“With our efforts Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams will now be constructed on time,” said the CJP.
The CJP told the audience that efforts are afoot to bring technology of converting air into water and it will soon be brought to the country.
He concluded his speech by praying for the country’s betterment and expressing hope that Pakistan gets a true leader after July 25 general elections.
