CJP asks ‘commando’ to muster courage to return home

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed former military ruler Pervez Musharraf to submit his medical report within a week.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing a case related to the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

The lawyer, representing former president Pervez Musharraf, informed the bench that his client wants to return back and face cases but has some security and medical issues.

The chief justice directed him to submit a report, detailing medical issues faced by his client.

The counsel said he would submit the report but it should be seen in the judge’s chamber.

Justice Nisar recalled that at the previous hearing, the court had assured Musharraf of provision of all facilities on his return to Pakistan.  “Pakistan’s highest court is giving this assurance. We can’t permit him not to return,” he remarked.

“If the former president doesn’t come back, we will issue red warrants,” the CJP warned.

“Commando [Musharraf] used to say he is brave. He should show courage [to fly back home],” he said.

The hearing of the case was postponed till Oct 11.
