CJP takes notice of Naqeebullah’s killing in alleged fake shootout

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday took suo motu notice of the killing of 27-year-old Naqeebullah in an alleged fake encounter.

The chief justice sought a report from the Inspector General of Sindh police within seven days on the killing of Naqeebullah, also known as Naseemullah, which sparked outrage on social media.

Rao Anwar appears before probe body

Appearing before a departmental inquiry committee for a grilling session, SSP Malir Rao Anwar on Friday renewed his claims that 27-year-old Naseemullah was involved in unlawful activities.

Talking briefly to media, Anwar said an FIR of kidnapping for ransom case against Naseemullah has been discovered. “The FIR was registered in 2014,” he claimed.

He was adamant that the deceased was not involved in criminal activities.

“Has his family reported about [Naqeeb] disappearance on January 3 in any police station?” he asked in response to the family’s claim that the deceased was abducted on aforementioned date from Sohrab Goth before an alleged ‘extrajudicial killing’.

Coming on PTI’s reaction, the SSP said the party has been making hue and cry over the incident with an intention of revenge. “They want to take revenge for the action against PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh,” he asserted.

Committee to submit report in 3 days

In an interaction with media, DIG East Sultan Khowaja said the committee will submit its report to the Sindh IG in three days.

“It’s an open inquiry! Eyewitnesses can come forward to document their statements” he said.

Khowaja said the deceased’s family has been taken into confidence with regard to the probe and the family members have been asked to appear before the committee to record their statements.

Suspension of SHO Shah Latif Town

On Thursday, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal had suspended Shah Latif Town SHO Amanullah Marwat after forming a three-member inquiry committee to probe the suspected extrajudicial killing of 27-year-old Naseemullah alias Naqeebullah from South Waziristan.

Talking to media, Siyal then said the committee has summoned SSP Malir Rao Anwar for a grilling session on Friday (today).

Siyal said if Rao failed to satisfy the committee over his claims, then he too would lose his post. “Stern action is to be taken against all responsible cops, if Naseemullah found guiltless,” the Sindh home minister said.

Three-member inquiry committee

AIG Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sanaullah Abbasi has been appointed head of the three-member committee, having DIG East Sultan Khowaja and DIG South Azad Khan as members.

The newly established committee has also sought postmortem reports of suspected slain terrorists.

The family members and acquaintances of Naqeebullah Mehsud have also been summoned to document their statements before the inquiry committee.

Who was Naseemullah?

Naseemullah better known as Naqeebullah Mehsud was a 27-year-old from South Waziristan. He was recently killed in an alleged police encounter in Karachi.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar was heading the police raiding team, which claimed to kill three terrorists in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town.

The SSP Malir said he has sufficient evidence that the slain youth was a terrorist but family members, relatives and friends remember him as a person who loved to take care of himself and wanted to become a model.

ARY News learnt that the handsome and well-dressed young man was fond of taking selfies and pictures and he wished to see his son as a Pakistan Army officer.

After going through his pictures one can see that he aspired to become a model.

What Naqeeb’s friends say?

Naqeeb had migrated along his family from Waziristan to Karachi. The money he used to earn through laborious work in a mill were mostly spent on his hair style and clothes, told his relative Noor Mehsud.

Noor said he was very sensitive about his hair style.

Naqeeb not only cared for his personal hair but he would also do his son’s hair in David Beckham style. Watching his videos and pictures doing rounds on social media one feels like he was a normal person just like many other men living in the megapolis and he knew how to enjoy his life.

Apart from a son, he has left behind two daughters also.

People are raising questions on social media along posting his beautiful pictures asking whether a terrorist looked like this.
