Chief Justice takes notice of Mashal Khan’s murder

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of lynching of student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan by mob over alleged blasphemy charges.

The notice was taken on a news item published in a section of media containing the details of the incident.

Taking notice of the matter, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has called report from IGP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 36 hours.

A group of university students and employees beat the Mass Communication student, Mashal, to death on April 13. The university was closed until further orders, while investigation is underway in this case.

Police today arrested three more employees of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in Mashal Khan murder case, mounting the total number of arrests to 13 as yet.

The direction of investigation in Mashal lunching case took a new turn after employees of the university came to light in the CCTV camera footages received by police, said District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan.

The DPO said six people suspected of involvement in the incident have been identified as university employees. Technical teams have been formed to conduct special operation for arrest of other suspects as well, he added.
