KARACHI: By-polls on PS-94, Karachi will be held on January 24, 2019, said notification issued by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday.
As per schedule announced by the ECP, nomination papers can be obtained between 12 to 14 December for the by-election on PS-94 Karachi, scheduled on January 24 next year.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be carried out till December 19, while appeals against the decisions of the returning officers (ROs) can be filed till December 22, said schedule issued by Pakistan’s prime electoral body.
Final list of candidates, contesting polls, will be issued on December 26, and electoral symbols will be allotted on December 27.
Earlier on October 21, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged victorious on NA-247 and PS-111 by polls with heavy margin in Karachi.
From NA-247, PTI’s Aftab Siddiqui emerged victorious by securing 32, 464 votes against MQM-P’s Sadiq Iftikhar who had only managed to secure 14, 114 votes.
PTI’s Shehzad Qureshi won PS-111 by securing 11, 658 votes as compared to PPP’s Fayyaz Pirzada who was able to bag only 4,961 votes.
