DG British foreign office Sir Simon Gass and Tariq Fatemi acknowledged in their meeting that the high-level interactions between the leadership of the two countries had contributed significantly in strengthening bilateral cooperation in a number of areas including trade and economy, regional peace and security, as well as countering violent extremism and terrorism, a foreign ministry statement said.
Special Assistant to PM appreciated its cooperation in the fields of education, health and social sector development. He also highlighted the prime minister’s initiatives for regional peace and stability, and his strong commitment to maintaining cordial relations with all neighbouring countries.
Sir Simon Gass acknowledged Pakistan’s role for the regional peace and security and reassured continued British support in all areas of mutual interest.
Special Assistant to PM in his meeting with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, executive secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), appreciated the invaluable contribution of UNESCAP for promoting the goals of socio-economic integration and sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region, and reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for its work.He underscored the need for mobilizing collective political will and resources to ensure progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). He highlighted that Pakistan had already initiated action on national goals to promote the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
The UN official acknowledged the positive contribution of Pakistan for promoting the objectives of UNESCAP, and welcomed the initiatives of the Government of Pakistan towards the achievement of SSDGs.
