Blast near CTD vehicle in Mastung leaves three injured

QUETTA: At least three personnel were injured in a blast targeting a vehicle of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday near the town of Mastung in Balochistan, ARY News reported.

Police confirmed the incident saying that three officers were injured in the incident and are being shifted to a local hospital, while rescue workers rushed to the site of the incident.

The personnel were reportedly targeted by remote-controlled explosive device, police claimed. Police and security forces have cordoned off the area and have collected evidence from the site.

The local administration assisted relief workers in providing aid to the blast victims. The provincial government has appealed nearby residents to remain calm and assist the authorities.

This is the second recent terror related incident in the city. At least 149 people including Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Siraj Raisani were killed in a suicide attack on July 13. The province witnessed a surge in terror-related incidents before the general elections on July 25.

The attack was the most lethal since Taliban militants attacked a school in Peshawar in 2014, killing over 150 people, mostly children, and one of the deadliest in Pakistan’s long struggle with militancy.
