ATC sends six ‘sectarian target killers’ to remand

KARACHI: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi sent six suspects including a policeman, involved in sectarian target killings, to remand until April 19, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police said the suspects were involved in murder of more than 50 persons.

The suspects include Haider alias Bacha, Mehtab alias Muchchar, Gul Akbar alias Abdullah, Haider alias Police Wala, Asif Raza alias Khalid and Kamran alias Pathan.

On April 15, CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdullah Sheikh had revealed that six target killers including a policeman were arrested in Karachi.

“Names of three members of the target killing

gang are included in the red book. The captured head constable was posted at Garden Headquarters (South),” Abdullah Sheikh had said while addressing a press conference. Additional DIG Qamaruz Zaman and the in-charge CTD were also present on this occasion.

He had said the suspects were involved in more than 50 target killings and also in attack on Maulana Aurangzeb. They had shot dead a pushcart vender at Yousuf Plaza, he had added.

The CTD DIG had said the incidents of target killing had reduced in the metropolis following arrest of the culprits.

“A joint investigation team has been formed over involvement of the six suspects in target killing incidents,” he had said.
