According to details, the ASWJ chief and other members were booked for spreading religious hate, violating the Amplifier Act and interfering in government duty in a First Information Report registered at Islamabad’s Secretariat police station after a party protest in Islamabad on Sunday.
The protest held in Constitution Avenue in Islamabad was organised to voice concern over the killing of Mazhar Siddiqui, a spokesman for ASWJ.
More than 200 activists from ASWJ later staged a sit-in in Islamabad protesting Siddiqui’s death.

The police initially tried to stop the protesters from entering the Red Zone and baton charged them. The protest was called off after a brief dialogue with Adviser to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui.
It is widely believed that the sectarian group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan renamed itself as ASWJ after being banned in 2002.
