KARACHI: The government has decided to deploy army on sensitive installations and locations in Karachi in view of looming terror threat in the wake of military operation in North Waziristan Agency, ARY News reported Monday.
The government, however, has not disclosed names of all places owing to security reasons.
“Deployment of army on specified locations will start this evening in Karachi,” informed sources.
Sindh government had requested the army to deploy its personnel on sensitive places and installations of the city in view of the terrorism threat.
The security forces have declared several areas sensitive including Nazimabad, Malir, Shah Faisal, Sohrab Goth, Orangi, Kati Pahari, Manghopir, Sultanabad and Ittehad Town.
The military offensive has begun in NWA, with at least 140 militants already killed by PAF fighter jets since yesterday.
Security institutions fear that militants might now target urban areas of the country after military offensive in NWA.
