Army Chief inaugurates Shabbir Sharif hospital in hometown

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Sunday visited his ancestral hometown of Kunjah in district Gujrat where he inaugurated the Major Shabbir Sharif Hospital.

The hospital is named after his brother who embraced martyrdom in the war of 1971. He is the only person ever who received both the Nishan-e-Haider and Sitara-e-Jurat for his bravery.

General Sharif visited the departments of the hospital and expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction. He even interacted with some of the patients at the hospital.

A large number of town residents were also present on the occasion, who commended the Army Chief for his valiant efforts in the war against extremism and terrorism.

General Sharif steps down from the position on November 29 and will be replaced by General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
