KARACHI: The anti-encroachment team of the district east administration on Friday razed more than 100 encroachments on Tariq Road, ARY News reported.
Encroachments including clay ovens, cabins and makeshift stalls were removed from footpaths using heavy machinery.
The operation was carried out in line with the Supreme Court orders.
Teams of the Sui Southern Gas Company, K-Electric and police were also involved in the anti-encroachment operation.
On March 28, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) had demolished illegal constructions to retrieve public land allocated for parks during an operation conducted in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
Encroachments were removed from ST-2 and ST-3 strips located in Block 13 of densely populated Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, said KDA officials.

The officials had said that illegal constructions were razed through heavy machinery during the latest operation.
Personnel of police and Rangers were also present on the location to control any untoward situation.
On March 19, authorities had resumed anti-encroachment operation in different parts of the metropolis after getting go-ahead by the SC.
The SC had directed all the relevant authorities on February 26 to cooperate and continue the operation against encroachment in Karachi.
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) authorities had started removing encroachments in Karachi’s Liaquatabad and FC Area.
