Airport Police files FIR of PIA protest firing

Two PIA officials, communication manager Inayat Raza and aircraft engineer Saleem Akbar, were shot dead and another employee was critically wounded in an unexplained shooting incident during a protest against government’s plans of privatization of the national airlines on February 2.

The case against unknown culprits has been registered after a court order.

Malir district and sessions judge Khalid Hussain Shahani ordered registeration of the FIR on a plea of the PIA employees Joint Action Committee leader Captain Suhail Baloch.

Baloch recorded his statement to the police in which

he named federal information minister Pervaiz Rashid, Senator Mushahidullah Khan, prime minister’s special assistant on aviation Shujaat Azeem, PIA general manager for administration Brig (retd) Asif and another official of the national carrier, Maqsood Ahmed, as suspects behind the criminal conspiracy which led to the killing.

Moreover, an emergency meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) was held for briefing on the JAC officials meeting with the privatization commission chief Zubair Ahmed.

The JAC members also discussed the future line of action of the protesting employees of the PIA.
