Govt to implement NAP effectively, protect young minds from extremism: Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said the government would implement National Action Plan (Nap) effectively and protect young minds from extremism.

He made these remarks at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control which held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Senator Abdul Rehman Malik.

Ahsan Iqbal said that it was decided in the meeting that all the chief secretaries of the provinces would meet once in a month and the chief ministers would sit together after two months for the better implementation of Nap.

Ahsan Iqbal said all recommendations of the committee members and general public will be welcomed for proper implementation of National Action Plan.

“It’s high time now to sustain the progress as government is taking all steps to tackle security challenges,” he said.

Ahsan Iqbal said overcoming of security challenges was essential for economic stability.

On the recent spate of terror incidents in Karachi, Iqbal said that terrorists were trying to lure the youth through social media. “A policy has been chalked out with the help of HEC [Higher Education Commission] to stem extremism at academia,” he added.
