Ahsan Iqbal directs to defer operation against sit-in by 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday appealed religious scholars to play their role in ending the sit-in by a religious party in Islamabad.

According to a statement, the Interior Minister directed the Islamabad administration to postpone the operation against protesters for next twenty-four hours.

He said the passage of the bill regarding finality of Prophet-hood is a historic achievement of the parliament and no one can alter this till the Day of Judgment, adding that after the passage of the bill, there is no justification for any sit-in.

Meanwhile, the government and the organizers of Faizabad sit-in held another round of talks in Islamabad.

The government side is led by Raja Zafarul Haq. Other members of the government delegation are Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Religious Affairs Pir Aminul Hasnat and Minister of State for CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhary.

Three rounds of talks have already been held between the two sides.

Earlier, Pir of Golra Sharif Nizamuddin Jami also held talks with the organizers of the sit-in.
