Afghan nationals among 111 suspects arrested in Islamabad raids

ISLAMABAD: As many as 111 suspected criminals were rounded up by police during search operation in different parts of the federal capital on Sunday, ARY News reported on Sunday.

Islamabad police conducted raids in different areas of the federal capital, where they arrested more than 100 suspects including 27 Afghan nationals.

Police said that they have also recovered illegal ammunition and narcotics from the arrested persons.

Pistol and liquor were recovered from three suspects during the raid, police added.

Earlier on April 5, Islamabad police had recovered 18 rounds of anti-aircraft gun during a raid conducted in Bani Gala.

The rounds were spotted by children playing near an empty plot situated in Bani Gala, police said. Residents gathered at the site informed local police regarding the bullets.

Police personnel have immediately arrived in at the location and seized the rounds. Following the recovery, police conducted a search operation in surrounding areas.

According to the police officials, children found one round of the artillery from the plot while 17 more bullet buried on the same site were dug out by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel after its detection.

Police said that a detailed report regarding the recovery will be compiled to take investigation into conclusive end.
