LAHORE: An accountability court (AC) on Wednesday extended former chief minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar’s interim bail till May 06, ARY News reported.
The Accountability Court in Lahore held a hearing on the bail plea of former chief minister of Punjab. The court accepted Usman Buzdar’s plea for exemption from personal appearance and extended his interim bail till May 06, restraining the bureau from his arrest in assets beyond means case.
According to the lawyer, Usman Buzdar pleaded the High Court seeking protective bail in the cases against him, adding that the government is eager to arrest Buzdar in an anti-corruption case.

In further development, the Lahore High court granted protective bail to former chief minister Usman Buzdar, barred the authorities to arrest him and sought details his ongoing anti-corruption cases.
Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Usman Buzdar, has filed for protective bail in relation to ongoing anti-corruption cases against him. Buzdar has requested the formation of a team comprising of the Punjab Anti-Corruption DG and IG.
Buzdar has claimed that the government is filing cases against him based on political foundations. He further stated that anti-corruption officials attempted to arrest him recently, and this has raised concerns that he can be arrested at any time.
In his request for protective bail, Buzdar has emphasized the need for a thorough investigation by the relevant court. He has also requested that the court to order the Anti-Corruption DG to provide records of the cases filed against him.
The former Chief Minister has expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the authorities in the ongoing investigations.
Assets Beyond Means
An accountability court (AC) has barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting former chief minister Punjab in assets beyond means case.
As per details, the court, after hearing arguments of the counsel, granted interim bail to former chief minister Punjab till February 27 and restrained the bureau from his arrest.
Buzdar’s counsel told the court that the NAB first said his arrest is not needed but now sent a notice.
