Abid Sher says Sheikh Rasheed to resign after taking salary

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Power Abid Sher Ali on Friday said Awami Muslim League (AML) chairman Sheikh Rasheed will resign only after drawing his salary for January, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders will not resign, ARY News reported.

“He is waiting for the salary that he will get on January 30. He will resign after drawing his salary,” he said talking to media.

Addressing a rally attended by various opposition parties’ leaders seeking justice for Model Town massacre victims, Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday announced to resign from his National Assembly seat and also urged the PTI to follow suit. On this PTI Chairman Imran Khan sought time to consult his party leaders for this.

On the PTI’s threatening to resign from the parliament, the minister asked why they hesitated from resigning. They had once before resigned from the parliament then (came back and) appologised in the parliament, he said.

“What lecture can one expect from them on democracy. They are themselves throne-less kings of corruption. They are the ones who assaulted government institutions,” he said.

Responding to an allegation levelled against the head of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) after his controversial statement, Abid Sher said he would become Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who had no identity, while Nawaz Sharif’s identity was Pakistan.
