Abbotabad administration recovers Osama compound from cantonment board

Cantonment board officials had installed fence around the compound land located in Bilal Town, at a short distance from Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul.

The compound had been transferred to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s name after Osama was shot dead on May 2, 2011, in a secret military operation conducted by American army.

The military operation which took more than twenty minutes, involved three American helicopters and Special Commandos of the United States army. The troops landed on the upper floor of the compound and allegedly shot to death Osama Bin Laden. One helicopter was also destroyed during the operation.

The provincial government had then made a principle decision to build a park for children on this land.

The land of compound lies in cantonment board’s limits, therefore, the cantonment board officials took benefit of it and installed fence around it and closed entrance for people to enter the land.
