LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday said PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif’s statement about the Mumbai attacks was misinterpreted by the Indian media and that he has never said non-state actors from Pakistan were involved in the attacks, ARY News reported.
PM Abbasi held press conference in the capital, which was not aired by any news channel. The presser will be aired ( after necessary omissions) later on the state-owned PTV .
The important press conference comes in the wake of his meeting with Sharif today in Islamabad, which followed a crucial meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) called to discuss the situation arisen out of the former premier’s controversial statement on the Mumbai attacks in which more than 150 people were killed and over 300 others injured.

According to excerpts from the PM’s presser, he said he met the PML-N Quaid, who denied having issued the statement that non-state actors who were involved in the attacks hailed from Pakistan.
He said the National Security Committee (NSC) examined the content of the former premier’s statement. “Nawaz Sharif never said the attackers were from Pakistan.”
He quoted Sharif as saying that his statement was taken out of context by the Indian media and only three points from his three-hour long interview were blown up by the media.
The premier clarified that the terrorists behind the November 2008 attacks didn’t hail from Pakistan. “Pakistan has never allowed its soil to be used for perpetuating terror activities. We should not become a part of the Indian propaganda.”
