26,000 saplings to be planted in Jhelum today: Fawad

JHELUM: As part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s ongoing tree plantation drive, as many as 26,000 saplings will be planted on 50 acres land in Jhelum today.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry in a tweet said, “Today in Jhelum ll plant 26,000 saplings on 50 Acre Land. This land is recovered from Qabza mafia.”

He said the country has its first pro-environment government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“Pak has its first pro environment Govt under ⁦@ImranKhanPTI⁩ and we take credit for paradigm positive shift in the environmental policy.”

It is noteworthy that the Punjab government had lately decided to plant more than one million saplings in the spring season in Punjab during next two months.

The decision was made during a meeting presided over by Minister for Housing & Urban Development, Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that beautifying the cities of the province was a priority of the Punjab government in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He directed that feasible proposals should be finalised for beautifying parks and construction and rehabilitation of green-belts along roads.
