11 more executed today — raising total since APS attack to 123

Eleven prisoners met their end in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Jehlum, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala and Mach Jails of the country.

Punjab province’s capital city Lahore witnessed the execution of two murderers Sher Ali and Shakil Anees.

Sher Ali killed two people in 2002 while Shakil murdered one in the year 1997.

Both were hanged till death in Kot Lakhpat Jail of Lahore.

Iftikhar alias Pashi and Asif Zaib were sent to gallows in Faisalabad Central Jail. Iftikhar was convicted of killing two of his family members in 2000 while Asif Zaib killed one of his opponents back in 1996.

Sahiwal Jail authorities had a convict Ishaq while Gujranwala had Nawaz executed.

A murderer of six was hanged till death in Toba Tek Singh town of Punjab- The convict Anwar murdered six of a family in 2006.

A triple murder convict namely Amjad was executed in Sargodha Jail while a convict Faryad was sent to gallows in Multan jail.

Balochistan’s Mach Jail which houses some of the most notorious criminals had a death row prisoner Muhammad Faryad hanged till death.

Jehlum Jail authorities executed a convict named Muhammad Afzal.

Pakistan lifted the moratorium on death penalty on Dec. 17, a day after Pakistani Taliban gunmen attacked Army Public School in Peshawar and killed 134 students and 19 adults.

The moratorium, in force since 2008, was initially lifted only in terrorism cases. But the government extended the order in March, directing provincial governments to proceed with hangings for all death row prisoners who have exhausted their appeals and clemency petitions.
