PPP leader, Sherry Rehman on Tuesday told that the PPP co-chairman directed the Sindh leadership of the party to voluntarily remove all barriers placed outside the Bilawal House, as appealed by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

She told that the Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was directed to order the removal of hurdles.

Police can be asked in a while to remove these barricades, however, the party expressed concerns that Bilawal House is the residence of former president, Asif Ali Zardari and there are security threats to it.

Here it is pertinent to note that the DG Rangers, Major General Bilal Akbar had appealed the citizens of Karachi to remove all barricades and security gates in their areas.

He had said that these hurdles cause difficulties for the general public as well as the law enforcers in carrying out the targeted operations against criminal elements in the metropolis.

With this, citizens had voluntarily removed the barriers in most of the areas, while at some places the law enforcers uprooted the barricades after a deadline of 72 hours ended.

Earlier the PPP-led Sindh government had written a letter to the DG Rangers and requested him not to remove barriers around Bilawal House.

Sources told that the Major General Bilal Akbar had directed the officials to proceed ‘without any discrimination’.

Following which the decision of barriers’ removal was made today by the PPP itself.
