According to Emirates 24/7, the aim of the Iftar was to gather everybody and celebrate the holy month of Ramazan together.
The organizers stated that the dastarkhwan (closely translated as dining cloth) was spread over 1.6 kilometres, which they claimed broke the previous record of 1.03 kms which was set near Al-Noor Mosque in Sharjah two years ago.
The organizers have also said that hundreds of men, women and children attended the record-breaking Iftar, according to Emirates 24/7.
