Young doctors’ strike enters second day in Quetta

According to official sources, young doctors and the paramedical staff have been on a strike since Wednesday, in a bid to record their protest against alleged violence on the part of few police officials, demanding an improved quota in the Hajj medical policy at the same time.

Young doctors have been asking for strict actions against police officials who allegedly physically torture them. While improved services structure and risk allowance and allotting a set quota in the Hajj medical policy were also in their charter of demands.

On Wednesday,

the young doctors and the paramedical staff rallied in Quetta with their demands, marched from Civil Hospital and staged a sit-in near the Manan Chowk. Later, officials of the Chief Minister House in Balochistan also met a delegation of the protesting doctors. However, the young doctors were of the view that their protest would continue unless an official notification was issued, accepting their demands.

Meanwhile, members of the YDA and PMA Balochistan have also threatened to intensify their protest by offering arrests if the government neglected their demands.
