World Bank pays tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi

Annette Dixon, World Bank’s Vice President for the South Asia Region, said that the social worker was an example for the whole world and it is necessary to carry his mission.

Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani, speaking on the occasion, said that Edhi did not borrow a single penny from the government or any other non-government organization for his work and treatment.

Ex-governor of State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Ishrat Hussain paying tribute to Edhi said that he served the people without ethnic or religious discrimination and his services will always be remembered.

Abdul Sttar Edhi passed away on 8th July this year due to protracted illness. He was given a state funeral. Large number of people had attended his funeral prayers in Karachi.

The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution to observe July 08 as the Edhi Day.
