ISLAMABAD: In a message on International Women’s Day, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi on Friday said women played crucial role in any society, ARY News reported.
“Nations are built when mothers, daughters and sisters are respected. Without respect to women we cannot become a nation,” Shehryar Khan Afridi said while addressing an event in Peshawar.
He said women’s responsibility held much importance for development of a country. They played an important role in the face of mother, sister, wife and daughter, he added.
On March 7, underscoring the need for social protection to women in the society, President Arif Alvi had said that Islam gave great importance to women’s right.

Addressing a seminar, in connection with awareness campaign against harassment, President Arif Alvi had lauded the role of women in strengthening democracy in the country.
He had said that our religion gave respect and special place to women in the society and added that Islam also gave inheriting rights to women.
International Women’s Day is observed globally including Pakistan on March 8 to honour achievements of women in various fields of life and renewed commitment to empower them.
This year’s theme of the Day was “Think equal, build smart, and innovate for change”.
Various ceremonies were held countrywide to highlight the importance of the day and create awareness to overcome bias against women.
