CHINIOT: A woman was critically injured in a suburb of Chiniot when a landlord attacked her with an axe after her family refused to give her hand in marriage to him, ARY News reported.
Police said that the incident took place in Jangar Kalutara area where landlord Iqbal tried to axe Asmat Bibi to death upon her parents’ refusal to marry their daughter to him.
Iqbal wanted to decapitate the woman with the axe but fortunately it missed the aim and hit her on the left shoulder, said rescue officials who reached immediately on the spot following the incident and shifted her to the district headquarter hospital for medical aid.
They said the victim is stated to be in precarious condition.
Chenab Nagar police station has registered a first information report against the accused and started a hunt for him, who, they said, fled the crime scene after the offence.
