The online encyclopedia – Wikipedia – has blocked public editing of its article relating ‘Calibri’ font just after a day when the Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s report revealed one of the anomalies in the respondents’ statements regarding use of ‘Calibri font’ in documents.
Declaring the documents, claimed to be composed back in 2006, provided by Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz as fake, the probing team asserted the font was not commercially available before January 31, 2007.
“The originals of the certified declarations are not correctly dated and have been created at some later point in time,” the JIT report stated.
The probing team revealed it in light of a report of an international document forensic laboratory where the documents were sent for scrutiny.
England’s Redley Forensic Document Laboratory (RFDL) apprised the Panamagate JIT that the font which was used in composition of documents, having date of 2006, is ‘Calibri’, the report further stated that the font was put to commercial use a year later in 2007.
The protection from editing came after launch of debate by the cyber vigilantes on the controversy, giving references of Wikipedia in support of their assertions about availability of the font.
As a result, Wikipedia was quickly flooded with edit requests from users.
Subsequently, the online encyclopedia has protected its ‘Calibri’ article page from editing till July 18, 2017.
Among other trends on Twitter #Fontgate #Calibri remained the center of discussion for it focused on Maryam Nawaz, known for her active presence on the Twitter, having been accused of submitting forged documents.
